MRS. BLACK MAKES AN ENTRANCE
Click, clack, click, clack
From somewhere down the hall
Echoes of clickety-clack
Against squeals and laughter
Patent leather music
Drowned by the whoosh of paper airplanes
And Jimmy at the blackboard
Screeching white on basic black
Click, clack, click, clack
From somewhere near the door.
Thump, thump and humph.
Little pitterpats in their seats.
Thump, thump, and humph
And a roar from the back
With a scowl and a pointed finger
Names with check marks
And a rap, rap, rap
To make them listen.
